Icknield Court care home in Princes Risborough marked its 10th anniversary with a special ‘high tea’ to celebrate the unveiling of its refurbished café.

Residents, families and members of the team gathered to enjoy a string duet and afternoon tea in the extended café area, which has been rejuvenated with new furnishings and carpet.

The special milestone was also marked with the creation of a time capsule, including letters and photos from residents, which will be buried in the gardens of the residential home, run by local charity and care provider, The Fremantle Trust.

Attendees at the event also enjoyed the chef’s specially created signature anniversary cake, baked in the shape of a 10.

The café refurbishment was coordinated to be completed in time for the birthday celebration as a much-loved meeting place at Icknield Court for residents and families. It is also hoped that the space might be developed for greater use by community partners to encourage social connections.

Commenting on the event, service manager, Nicola James, said: “We all had a really enjoyable afternoon celebrating our 10th anniversary in the new-look café space, which is the heart of the thriving community here. We look forward to the next ten years of making special memories at Icknield Court!”

Ann Main, a resident at Icknield Court, added: “It was an honour to be part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the refurbished café. I really enjoy spending time there chatting to others.”
