Residents and staff at The Grove Care Home in Waltham held a sponsored walk to mark Dementia Action Week. The team from The Grove started their walk from the Ings Lane care home and walked around the village of Waltham. Staff and residents were joined by family members and they stopped off at Waltham Tea Gardens who supplied them with a free drink!

The walk was organized by Julie Moore Activities and Well-being Coordinator at The Grove who said; “We had a great afternoon and would like to thank the Waltham Tea Gardens for supporting us too”.

Over £300 has been raised so far from the walk, the total will be split between the Alzheimer’s Society and the resident’s Comfort Fund and will be used to fund day trips and outings for residents living with dementia.

The Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Action Week was held on the 21st – 27th May. One person develops dementia every three minutes, yet too many face it alone. The Alzheimer’s Society are calling on everyone to take action to improve the everyday lives of people affected by dementia.
