Walsall care home supports young football team

A new local football team called Walsall Wood Avengers Under 7s, got kitted out with the brand new football shirts thanks to the sponsorship from Pelsall Hall, a local care home in Pelsall, Walsall.

The football team was formed this year by Manager Lee Stretton to encourage more youngsters into the sport.

 

One of the members of the team is grandson of the Activities Coordinator at Pelsall Hall and the team were looking for sponsorship to help them to purchase match kits and training kits and Pelsall Hall were happy to help.

 

Pelsall Hall is a registered Eden Alternative home, whose philosophy is to support Elders to continue to live a full life banishing loneliness, helplessness and boredom through culture change in the home.  The home is part of an award-winning care charity Greensleeves Care, which manages 21 residential, dementia and nursing homes across England.

 

The Manager at Pelsall Hall, Sarah Owen, said: “We are happy to support the team and help them with sponsorship.  Part of our Eden Alternative culture is to include children into the lives of our residents.  The residents at Pelsall Hall are delighted to support and follow the growth and the achievements of the team through the football season”.

 

The team trains twice per week and has matches against other local teams most weekends.  Pelsall Hall residents are looking forward to watching matches and tournaments of Walsall Wood Avengers.
