Residents at a Sanctuary Care home in Stourport-on-Severn welcomed people from the local community to embark on their ‘virtual’ summer cruise.

Last week residents at Ravenhurst Residential Care Home in Lickhill Road North are ‘globe-trotting’, as the team re-create holiday hot spots from across the world right in the heart of the home.

On Monday 14th August people from the local community joined the residents as they embarked on their ‘maiden voyage’ for a launch party, with Gerry Graham and his ‘World Cruise Show’. There was an abundance of fantastic food – and of course the team dressed to impress as staff aboard a cruise liner.

For the rest of the week the residents will be experiencing French knitting in France, pizza making in Italy, arts and crafts in Spain as well as a piñata party in Mexico.

In real time they will also be taking a mid-week trip to Weston-super-Mare for a breezy beach day in Blighty.

All of Sanctuary Care’s homes across the country have been embarking on virtual summer cruise weeks, ‘transporting’ residents to different destinations all over the world.

Other hotspots have included a day in the Philippines for residents of Watlington & District Nursing Home in Oxfordshire as well as a Spanish festival in Pershore for residents of Heathlands Residential Care Home. Meanwhile at Briarscroft Residential Care Home in Birmingham the residents enjoyed the carnival celebrations of a Mardi Gras. They also had a ‘passport control’ so their passports could be marked by rubber stamps made especially for the event.
