Staff at Barnes Lodge Residential Care Home baked their way to raising £50 for the Alzheimer’s Society, by getting involved with National Cupcake Day.

Residents and visitors to the new Tudeley Lane residential care home were invited to enjoy a cuppa and cupcake, whilst raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Keen to get on board with the fundraising initiative, kitchen staff had prepared a variety of tasty cupcakes, including blueberry and strawberry flavours, for the residents and their guests to sample. Many enjoyed tucking into their tasty treat in the garden, whilst soaking up the sunshine.

Sara Grist, home manager of Barnes Lodge commented: “We were delighted to get involved with fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Society, it’s an excellent cause and we managed to raise £50 for the charity.

“The residents really enjoyed their cupcakes and lots of our guests who stopped by, also supported us and stayed to enjoy a cupcake and cup of tea. We’d like to thank the kitchen staff for baking the cakes and everyone who bought one.”

Cupcake Day, took place on Thursday, June 15, and aimed to unite the public against dementia by encouraging families, friends and colleagues to bake or buy cupcakes to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society.
