Care home residents enjoy a day at the races

Barbara, a resident at the Yeovil care home, shared that she enjoyed attending Ladies Day at the races and hadn’t been able to go for quite a few years. Staff at Grovelands arranged to grant her wish and planned an outing to Exeter Racecourse for her and fellow resident and friend, Mary.

The ladies were incredibly excited about their trip out and dressed in their best clothes for the occasion. They were assigned premium seats with a perfect view of the finish line. Alongside watching the races, the ladies enjoyed a meal, ice cream and a tipple of their choice.

Eager to make the most of their day, both ladies placed bets and won! Barbara and Mary had a wonderful day and were delighted to share their experience with Tracey and Janet, the two accompanying staff members.

Speaking on the outing, Manager, Ross Isbell said: “I’m delighted that Barbara and Mary had such a great time at the races. When we heard Barbara reminiscing about attending Ladies Day we knew that we had to organise a trip. I’m so proud of the staff at Grovelands for going the extra mile to make a difference to the lives of the people we support.”
