The affordable housing provider has selected Partnering in Property Management (PPM) Limited to a contract which could be valued at around £25m. PPM has been awarded a seven year contract which was due to start on Saturday April 1.
The contract has the option to be extended by Home Group for a further seven years.
Margarita Morrison, Home Group director of maintenance, said: “We’re looking forward to working with PPM in our South Lakes area. Home Group is a national company but we’re very much connected with our neighbourhoods and we’re confident our customers will appreciate having work carried out on their homes by a company local to them.
“We were impressed with PPM’s commitment to customer service and getting the job right first time. We’re grateful to Mears which had been carrying out repairs and maintenance in this area on a temporary basis during the last 12 months.”
Home Group is committed to ensuring its customers fulfil their aspirations and gain skills and qualifications. As part of the contract PPM will offer apprenticeships to people living in and near to Home Group communities.
PPM’s Managing Director Gordon McGregor says “The residents of Home Group, within South Lakes, can expect the company to apply a strong emphasis on ensuring local jobs for local people. The use of local suppliers and specialist subcontractors will also be paramount within the contract.”
The area covered by the contract extends roughly from Penrith in the north to Millom, Barrow in Furness and across to the M6 motorway and covers approximately 1,500 homes.
It is estimated the contract will be worth £1.8m for each year of operation.
PPM was selected following a rigorous tendering process that began in July 2016. They were assessed against various criteria including; Customer Service, Value for Money and Corporate Social Responsibility.
Home Group, a social enterprise and a charity with a turnover of over £350m, is one of the UK’s largest providers of high quality housing and integrated housing, health and social care.
