A Ruislip care home welcomed Cllr. John Hensley, Mayor of Hillingdon to open the recently completed ‘Memory Lane’ reminiscence street scene.

Wendy Man (Deputy Manager) and Sam Cader (Director) of Poplars Care Home gave the Mayor and Mayoress of Hillingdon a tour of the care home and of the two recently created street scenes.

The visit also coincided with Dignity in Care day.

Cllr. Hensley gave a short speech thanking the care home staff for their hard work and focus into providing a meaningful environment for those with a diagnosis of dementia before formally opening.

This wonderful resource contains original vintage items from a typical grocery shop, tea room, pharmacy and sweet shop. These items have proven to be a conversation piece and has brightened up a previously unused area of the care home.

The care home also welcomed Mandy O’Brien, Care Coordinator at local GP surgeries who has supported the home’s residents.

Eight relatives were also in attendance to meet the Mayor along with the residents.

A buffet lunch was offered to the Mayor and his wife where he chatted with residents.
