Caring Homes has made two senior operational appointments, further strengthening the management structure supporting its 61 care homes across the UK.

Richard Hawes and Jane Prior join the company as Regional Operations Directors. Both are Registered Nurses, in line with Caring Homes’ policy of appointing nurses in operational management roles. Jane is responsible for 24 elderly care homes in East Anglia, Kent, Surrey and Scotland, while Richard’s area encompasses 18 care homes principally in the South and South West of England.

Richard brings more than 30 years’ experience of nursing older people, and completed his MBA in 2005. Previous posts include ROD for Barchester Healthcare, Director of Care Services at Care South and Care Director at The Orders of St John. He says: “I believe that the core principles of care have not changed. We should look beyond the label of disability and see the person – find ways to help people to live in a way that satisfies them.”

Jane’s career in private sector elderly care spans almost 30 years as a Staff Nurse, Deputy Home Manager and Regional Manager with a strong focus on dementia care. She was previously Operations Director for HC One and Care and Quality Director at Gracewell Healthcare. Her vision is to share her experience with her regional managers ‘to create an innovative and forward thinking culture, understanding what is happening in the wider care industry and giving the very best care we can.’
