Musical 2Residents were the stars of the show when a musical performance of ‘One Fine Day’ raised the roof of Daisy Nook House care home, in Ashton-under-Lyne.

Organised by care home provider Meridian Healthcare, the show was staged by Northeast Producers and raised money for The Silver Line, a helpline for older people.

As part of The Silver Line’s awareness week, Silver Week (15 to 21 May), Daisy Nook House invited family and friends to watch the theatrical play, which residents also played a role in.

Donations from residents, staff and guests raised £30 for the charity, which provides information, advice and friendship to older people 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Edna Whelan, resident at Daisy Nook House, commented: “What a lovely afternoon, I loved every minute.” Rita Wood added: “Thank you for organising the show, it was fantastic!”

Musical 1Orla Adamson, Daisy Nook House’s care centre manager, added: “The musical was a great success and all of our residents were really engaged in the performance.

“It was an added bonus that we were able to raise money for a charity that is so beneficial to older people and I’d like to thank everyone for their kind donations.”
