Crofton Court care home in Blyth, which is part of Akari Care, has been given a new look to enhance the home for its residents.

The two lounges on the dementia house at the care home, which is based on Edward Street and provides residential and specialist dementia care for 50 elderly residents, have been re-decorated and the entrance foyer has been freshened up.

There are new soft furnishings, curtains, freshly painted walls and wallpaper in the lounges, which were picked by all the residents to ensure it’s a pleasant and comfortable environment for everyone at the home.

The refurbishment at Crofton Court is part of Akari Care’s £15 million investment programme in its homes throughout the UK.

Chris Palmer, Manager at Crofton Court, said: “The home is looking fantastic and we are all really pleased with the result of the refurbishment.

“Our residents enjoyed picking the soft furnishings and the colour schemes for the rooms and it was really important for us to involve them in the whole process.

“The environment of a care home is an imperative part of the overall care for residents and can impact on their everyday lives, so the fresh, comfortable and safe environment that we provide at Crofton Court is extremely beneficial for residents.”
