Social Care and Healthcare professionals from across the country have been in training to take part in what’s believed to be the first ever Care Netwalk.
The event has been organised by Vicky Marsden, Director of National Permanent Recruitment company, Health and Social Care Jobs who wants to raise money for a sector related charity as well as bringing together care professionals who have a love for walking.
Around 50 participants will do the 26 mile trek over Yorkshire’s three highest peaks in less than 12 hours to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society. The mammoth trek on Saturday 11th August will take the group across Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside. Vicky told us:
‘We wanted to do something that would allow health professionals to get together and network informally but so many people are stuck in an office – so we decided to take the meeting outside and raise some money for charity at the same time.’
Professionals will be coming from as far afield as Dorset for this unique opportunity to network with people from all areas of the Social Care sector. Everyone from CEO’s to Care Workers have signed up and many of them have an interesting story to tell.
For Paul Marsden, Co-Director of Health & Social care jobs, the challenge is extra tough. He had his spine fused two years ago so training has been vital but he is driven forward by the amount of support and interest that there has been:
‘This is our first year of running the event and I can’t believe how many people have expressed an interest. We do still have some places available and we’re already looking at how we can accommodate even more people next year although I think we’ll scale it down a touch as a 26 mile trek is a daunting thought for anyone.’
With so much concern over lack of funding and government cuts within the sector at present, Health & Social Care jobs are hoping the picturesque Yorkshire backdrop will inspire people to not only to net walk, but also to share knowledge, positive ideas and success stories. Most of all it will be a day of fresh air and good company whilst showing our support for fantastic charity.
There still a few spots left so if you fancy taking up the challenge on this unique networking opportunity, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Vicky on 0113 2176639.
