Sarah Coleman on her way to meet the Queen at Buckingham Palace

Willows Mountain Ash Care Home Deputy Manager, Sarah Coleman, has attended the Queen’s Garden Party following her success at the Welsh Care Awards last year, where she won two awards for her outstanding care work.

Sarah, who has worked in the Mid Glamorgan based care home for six years, won Nurse of the Year and Dementia Care Practitioner.

She was nominated for the awards for her initiative to support relatives of the residents suffering from the condition. She set up a group for the relatives and provided a range of information and magazines on dementia.

Sara said: “I really enjoy my job and helping to provide high quality care. I am always looking for new and innovative ideas to present to the home. To win the two Care Awards was amazing and the invitation to the Garden Party really was the icing on the cake.

“I went to the party with my mum and it was fabulous. I bought a new dress and hat for the event, it was all quite exciting. I was very nervous to meet the Queen. It was a great honour and she was very nice.”
