Carebase’s care homes, specialising in nursing, residential and dementia care in the South East and East Anglia, organised their very own Jubilee Time Capsule to tie in with the largest ever digital time capsule to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The time capsules were filled and then buried at each of the Carebase care homes and made up part of the homes’ fantastic Jubilee celebrations. Each home also organised a fun-packed; activity filled Jubilee Party during the Jubilee weekend.
All the residents of each of the homes helped fill their time capsule with something that reminded them of a special day or their fondest memory in the last 60 years – a photo, a poem, a letter, a souvenir – and these were buried with the time capsule for future generations to discover.
The time capsules also contained photos of the residents and staff and details of the care home explaining where it is, how many residents live there, what activities they do and what pets they have, so that whoever finds it in the future will know something about the people who contributed to it and buried it.
This special Jubilee celebration was part of Carebase’s extensive activity programme for its homes that ensures residents make the most of every day and fill their time with interesting, meaningful and motivational pastimes
